Personality: Kaede is friendly and loyal, always protecting those she cares about. She is very trusting, though not to the point of naivety. She finds meeting new people a little awkward, and so tends to stick in small, tight-knit groups of close friends. She keeps a very open-mind when approaching all situations and always works hard at the task in hand. In battle, she is no slouch. She will try to work out a strategy quickly, then use it to end the fight as soon as she can. Should this fail, she is more than willing to fight to the bitter end.

Special Characteristics: Kaede's eyes bear the Nibi no Nekomata's markings - black 'cat-like' marks tracing the edges of both of her eyes.

History/Background Story: Kaede was born in Kumogakure 21 years ago, to proud parents Annu and Makku Asuka. She led a fairly normal childhood, progressing through her initial education with ease. She made few friends, but those she did have were very dear to her and she spent as much time with them as was possible. She is not without experience of hardship, however. Having lost many family members and two unborn siblings. She has an older brother who looked after her when her parents were busy.

When she was of age, she entered into the shinobi academy in Kumogakure . Her mother did not entirely approve, but was far happier when she received Kaede's first report card - high marks in all areas. She dedicated herself to the teachings of the academy, working harder than perhaps any other pupil in her class. Eventually, after her long years spent there, she was ready to graduate. Her partners for the graduation exam were not as hard-working as Kaede. However, desperate to pass first time, she made an extra effort to secure their group's progression.

Soon after she graduated, however, her grandfather (with whom she had been very close), joined the list of deceased relatives. Kaede, in her grief, missed out on the first opportunity to join a four-man team. Instead, she stayed at home with her parents, rarely leaving the house. In her time in near-solitude, she found solace in art. More specifically, in origami. Her mother had taught her basic paper-folding - animals, lanterns etc. She soon began training using these techniques - venting her frustration and learning the art simultaneously. The next chance she got to be a part of a team, she was ready to join. She spent eighteen months as a Genin in her team, completing basic missions and learning from her sensei. She was put forward for the Chuunin exams aged 15. She reached the final but lost in a hard-fought battle. Her efforts impressed the elders and she was promoted to Chuunin.

At first, she found the new rank to be, after all the work, a little disappointing - nothing really changed. When her first mission as a Chuunin was given to her, however, she perked up. They were far more challenging - something Kaede relished. In no hurry to become a Jounin just yet, she spent three and a half years as a Chuunin, thoroughly enjoying the position. In the first of these years, Kaede was separated from her teammates in "The Forest of Devils". It was here that she stumbled upon a well-concealed, run-down shrine. Kaede could not make out what deity the shrine was for praying to. She turned to leave, but found her feet held by an invisible force. A purple aura surround both her and the shrine. The shrine housed the spirit of Nibi no Nekomata, the two-tailed Cat bijuu. It spoke to Kaede, "At last, a suitable host. The seal is broken!" It whispered. Drawn towards the shrine against her will, Kaede placed a hand on the rough stone. The purple aura surrounding the shrine enveloped her. Almost immediately, it receded into a point on the small of her back. A small, angular seal appeared at this point. This was the ancient seal placed on the shrine, in case the Nibi escaped. It forced the bijuu to be sealed within the host. Kaede, by now, had passed out. She awoke in the Kumogakure hospital, her teammates sat by her bed. Their frightened faces told Kaede all she needed to know. At this, she passed out again.

After being released from care, she began to research her 'condition'. She read about jinchuuriki, individuals who could command a bijuu's power as their own. Intrigued, she tried to communicate with the Nibi, to understand it's power better. She was successful, and devised ways to use the beast to suit her own ends. It took much training, but Kaede eventually managed to control the demon in almost all situations. At 19, she decided it was time to step up and fully commit to the welfare of the village. She suggested to her peers that she was ready to become a Jounin. It wasn't long before she was promoted.She hadn't been a Jounin very long before the attacks began. Mercenaries launched nightly attacks upon Kumogakure. The Raikage at the time issued notices that more soldiers were needed. Ever-ready to do right by her village, Kaede agreed to join the ANBU corps. She was assessed for her ability and consequently assigned to the Neko (Stealth & Assassination) branch. A year later, with the increase in numbers of soldiers, Kumogakure forces drove the mercenaries away.

Not wanting to stay as an ANBU member longer than was necessary, Kaede stepped down from her position. With six months to go before the next wave of students graduated the academy, Kaede signed up to act as sensei for a three-man Genin team. However, Kaede did not get the chance to take on her students...Days later, the Raikage was being rushed back into Kumogakure after leading a Jounin team to eliminate a group of S-ranked criminals. He had been mortally wounded and Kaede heard that there was no hope of saving him. As the next most competent and level-headed shinobi in the village, she was asked to temporarily take over the Raikage's responsibilities while he was treated. She accepted. Two weeks later, the Raikage died in his sleep. The entire village turned to Kaede for guidance. Noticing this, the elders suggested her position become permanent. She was happy to accept, and is currently settling in to her new role in Kumogakure.

This jutsu allows Kaede to convert her body into pieces of paper for
her to use to attack her opponent. The body part used will immediately
be replaced by more paper. For example, her right hand would disperse

colour, skin, nerve, flesh and bone. She cannot use this to heal from a
wound inflicted by anyone else.

downfall of losing depth perception and environmental details.

Similar to the Clone Technique, this jutsu creates clones of the user.
Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not
illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone,
giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The
clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed,
but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. Unlike other
clones, the Byakugan can’t detect them because the clones have the
exact same amount of chakra and aren't made from any other substance,
making them indistinguishable from the actual person. Any experience
the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once
they are dispersed.

separate the person's personality into two parts. One part being their

the less inhibited side will begin to take over and then eventually

Description:
This ninjutsu summons a barrier that blocks the use of any other
summonings. To start, the user forms ten handseals, creating a seal on
the ground that is the kanji for 'forbid'. At this point, the barrier
is erected. It covers a half-mile in all directions, and only has a
one-time chakra cost. It does not continuously drain the user's chakra.
The barrier is intangible and invisible, and lasts for duration of
eight posts. Anyone in the barrier that tries to summon a animal, boss
summon, object, or anything else will waste all the chakra that is
normally used for the technique. The chakra cost for the barrier is
surprisingly low for an A-rank; the whole jutsu only costs the
equivalent of using Kuchiyose no Jutsu.

paper sheets will then diffuse into the atmosphere, leaving no trace of
Kaede or the paper sheets.At any time while in this state, Kaede can
reform her body. A shower of tiny white paper sheets and she reappears
in any desired location within a mile radius of her location when she
initiated the technique. She may repeat this dispersion -->
reformation ability as often as she wants until the technique runs out
(six to eight posts). It essentially allows her to, for a temporary
period of time, freely and instantly teleport around the area. There
are dangers, however. If the technique runs out while Kaede is in the
dispersed form, she will simply cease to exist.

Like all of her paper techniques, Kaede doesn't have to form hand seals
because she can actually control paper. Using any number of pieces of
paper, she can use her Jidou Honsho technique to make seals appear on
each piece by thought alone. These ‘sealed’ pieces of paper can be
directed at great speed towards multiple targets. They wrap around or
stick onto the target(s). Once attached, Kaede can activate them by
speaking the kanji for ‘lock’ – ‘joumae’. Each piece of paper, once
activated, temporarily seals one-tenth of the target’s chakra until
either twenty minutes pass or the user moves at least one-thousand
metres away (i.e. leaves the vicinity). If ten or more are stuck to one
target, all of their chakra is temporarily sealed.

Kaede is able to, after many years of training, to control when Nibi's power is released. On some occassions of extreme emotional affliction, Nibi is able to break Kaede's hold over it and release itself. This is a rare occurence.

Description: In this form, Kaede's eyes narrow slightly, and her pupils become slightly thinner. Her black eye markings widen a little too. Her teeth and fignernails sharpen but barely lengthen at all. The most distinctive feature of this stage is the thin, skin-tight, smooth purple aura surrounding her body. She is not forced into a four-legged stance. Her strength, speed, agility and chakra are multiplied by five, but she loses a certain amount of rationality.

Description: In this form, Kaede's pupil's become thinner still, though not completely cat-like. Her teeth and fingernails now lengthen by no more than a centimetre and remain as sharp as in Stage 1. Her purple aura thickens slightly but is no longer smooth - it has a jagged outline. The first of the two tails forms at this stage, the aura growing until the tail is outlined at the small of Kaede's back. There is no colour between the tail outline. Kaede is forced to stoop a little, but it is hardly noticeable. Her strength, speed, agility and chakra increase twofold (in addition to the increase from Stage 1). She keeps the same mentality as before, not losing any further rationality.

Description: In this form, Kaede's pupil's become mere slits, like a cat's. Her eyes become more rounded again, and she is forced into a four-legged stance. At this point, her aura darkens and expands to ten times its previous size. It is constantly flailing around, and wisps of deep purple fly from the edges. Kaede herself begins to darken to a shade of purple. Her whole body grows to fill the dark purple aura (ten times her body's natural size). As this happens, her physique alters completely until she resembles Nibi itself. The changes stop when she looks like ths...

Though Kaede becomes more feral and less 'in-control'; her strength, speed, agility and chakra all increase twenty-fold (in addition to previous increases), giving her astounding power. Description: Once in her first or second form, Kaede can strengthen and shape the aura around her hands. When struck by such a claw, the target's wound will not heal as quickly as a regular one - Nibi's vile chakra preventing blood from clotting and incisions from sealing.

Description: A powerful jutsu, Kuchiyose allows a ninja to summon animals, objects and the dead to fight on their behalf. The ninja normally signs a blood contract with the animal species, which allows them to summon different size and skill levels of creature. In Kaede's case, because Nibi inhabits her body, she is able to access the bijuu's summoning power - summoning deceased people's spirits. Spirits summoned this way look like they did in life, but have a dark purple aura (see Nibi Form, Stage 1) surrounding them. They are submissive to their master's will. They retain memories and have a personality shaped by how they were in life (a summoned Medi-Nin would likely be compassionate). Summoned spirits can interact with their environment and even perform ninja techniques they knew in life. However, their is a limit to how much 'power' can be summoned. For example, a deceased Kage could be summoned, but no other summons at all (power limit). Or, a hundred or so average Genin could be summoned, but no other summons (power limit). In Nibi Form, Stage 1, Kaede must use hand seals for this technique. In Stage 3, Nibi/Kaede can do it with a wave of one paw.

Description: This ability of Nibi's only occurs when the host is about to die. Notoriously hardy, cats are believed to have the innate ability of self-preservation. Nibi is no different. Should the host be within minutes of death, Nibi will gather its chakra internally. When the host dies, it will instantly release the chakra, reviving the host. Any life-threatening injuries will heal, but anything else (even broken bones, bruises, cuts etc.) will remain damaged. This can only be done once a day.

Description:
After forming the appropriate hand seals, the user crosses their arms
in front of their torso and draws out lightning chakra between these
limbs. Moments later, the user releases it with a swing on their arms,
which then fall to their side. It travels, in the form of a large wave
of electricity, towards the opponent at a high speed. When it connects,
the target it forced against it as it continues travelling. All the
while, the subject is subject to an intense electric current run
through their body. When the attack fades, the subject is released from
its "grasp".

Description:
Because it is a Kage Bunshin, the clone has the ability to interact
with the environment due to it having physical substance. This allows
the clone to carry out limited attacks on its target. If the Raikage
Bunshin is injured, the clone will revert into its natural lightning
state. Like in other Lightning Element attacks, should the target come
into contact with the electricity, they will be momentarily stunned.

amount of electricity to speed up the snyaptic connections in their

by the user. Once it leaves the user’s hand, it takes the form of a
feral wolf. Until the attack is complete, the ‘wolf’ leaves a trail of
lightning leading back to the user’s hand.

Description:
An extremely powerful technique, Raikiri is formed by first focusing
chakra to the hand. Then, by changing the nature of this chakra to
lightning the chakra becomes visible as lightning. Lastly, by altering
the shape of the chakra to an electrical discharge, Raikiri is formed
as a surge of screeching, jagged lightning surrounding the user's hand.
As an attack, is is used with an arm thrust, and can pierce any object
or material. Because it is often easily countered, Kaede tends to use
it when in Nibi Form, so that she is too fast for the attack to be
avoided. It is possible to form two Raikiris simultaneously, one in
each hand. This technique can only be performed up to four times a day.

After forming the necessary hand seals, the user forcefully plants both hands on the ground. There is a resulting shockwave that causes the ground to tremble for a few seconds. Cracks appear in the ground where the user struck, and the earth crumbles. Rock and dust and rubble all cluster together, forming a giant mass of earth and rock. Eventually, a golem-like creature is formed - it is humanoid in shape, but twenty feet tall and ten feet wide. It can resist all but the most powerful attacks and though somewhat slow, is able to crush most objects (including humans and animals) with one strike.

Because this technique requires complete concentration from the user, it is useless against multiple opponents, who could either free the target or take advantage of the user's inactivity in reality.
